College renamed Mayfield Grange

Manyfield College is nearing the end of its restroation and conversion into luxury apartments (they cost £700,000-£895,000) and the main building is called the Great Hall and the whole development is now refered to as MAYFIELD GRANGE. see www.weston-homes.com for further information. All the other buildings with the exception of the Sanatorium, Chapel and Ryken House have been demolished to make way for executive houses. As an old boy (1971-76) who left friends reunited after getting too much spam, I though I had better post a blog instead.

I left there in 1968 and visited only last month. The main conversion has now been done and the chapel is about £1½ million.

It's good to see Charlie's Yard has been retained - I have some fond memories of being beaten up by some of the school bullies there!

Please can anyone advise as to how I could find info on relatives who attended the school around 1900.

I left in 1978.How nice to hear about the "chinese yard" and the "grey lady" in our PLUNKET dorms.
How about ,"Jock" 's shed behind old brother Conrad 's art room.It was one of our warmest hide out's in winter!.
Saw different stages of the deconstruction with some sadness, managed to take the last "Plunket" house board from the "ref",with the incouragment of the keeper.Hope the cemmetery with our good old brothers will stay?.
I must come back to see the place to day.
Any sort of old boys association going on ?.

Brother Mario is now Father Mario!

Any memories of him? A number of bloggers have all too painful memories of abuse at the hands of the Xaverian Brothers. Does anyone know if Brother now Father Mario was aware of such abuse? Did he do anything if he was aware?

I hope to hear from anyone who has a report to make.

iam now 73 and live in Hastings, and remember alot of the pupils and staff, Swann was head boy. i was bullied alot and was made to watch boys playing in the showers and if i didn't iwas beaten by the boys. the were about 6 that abused me and i was frightened to tell the head master. I still have dreams of that horid time at the school. reading what went on there has made me put this comment here. i know it is to late to do anything now. i used to get rulr across my knuckles and the cane boarduster and chalk thrown at me quite alot for no reason.
